West Ham are reportedly keen on making a move for Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne.

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Inter Milan remain favourites to sign him, but there’s also interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle.

In a report by Football Italia, he is in a contract standoff with Napoli as they have offered him a pay cut and he is still to make a decision.

Worth exploring

The Hammers need a game-changing player in the final third and in Insigne they will get just that.

He’s got the experience of scoring big goals in big matches both for his club and country.

His experience of playing in the World Cup and EUROs for Italy along with the Champions League will certainly rub off on the Hammers players.

At 30, he may be on the older side and that could see the hierarchy have a few reservations about bringing him to the club.

However, on his day, the Italy international is a terrifying prospect and must look to be signed.

Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour was full of praise of the Italian on talkSPORT [6:53 am, July 9, 2021].

He said, “Insigne is a real livewire. He gets on the ball, he runs at you, he is an excellent little player.”

Such a player would benefit West Ham a great deal and they must look to sign him.
