West Ham are one of several Premier League clubs that want to sign Scottish international Jack Hendry from Club Brugge.

Voetbal Belgie claim that the Irons will face competition from Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion for the 26-year-old’s signature.

The former Celtic man left KV Oostende for a move to Club Brugge, and he has made four appearances in the Champions League this season and appears to be attracting interest from the Hammers and other Premier League sides.

Bit of an odd one.

The Hammers are pretty well stocked for centre-backs at the moment, considering they have Issa Diop, Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna, and Kurt Zouma.

All four have played their part this season, and all four have been very good when called upon.

So, it is hard to argue that David Moyes’ side need another centre-back, but it appears as if they are interested, so this could be one to keep an eye on.

Since leaving Celtic in the summer of 2020, Hendry’s career has gone from strength to strength, and he is now an important part of Steve Clarke’s Scotland side and has played 16 games for Brugge.

Even when he was at Celtic, he was hailed as “fabulous” by Brendan Rodgers [The Times].

So, he appears to be a key player for both club and country, and it would be intriguing if the Hammers decided to make a move for the big Scotsman.

However, centre-back is not a priority position at the moment, so you would think that any potential transfer would happen next summer rather than in January.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes has revealed a double injury blow ahead of the Liverpool game.
