West Ham are reportedly keen on signing Everton defender Lucas Digne in January amid Aaron Cresswell’s long-term injury.
According to The Daily Mail, the France international is among the players under consideration as David Moyes and Rob Newman continue to discuss targets for this month.
The Telegraph reported in December that Toffees boss Rafa Benitez is open to selling him after a falling out that made his future at the club untenable.
Digne does not seem to be too wrong about questioning Benitez’s methods at the club.
Everton appear to be in a relegation battle while they’ve been used to fighting for European places.
Given Cresswell’s injury, the need to sign a new left-back in January has come become all the more important.
Moyes does not seem to be the biggest fan of Arthur Masuaku and it can be seen given how he fancies Ben Johnson over him.
Digne is an established France international and given his age, will be the first choice option for the Hammers for the next five years.
Last season, when his stock was extremely high, Andy Hinchcliffe waxed lyrical over the French international on Sky Sports (May 19), labelling him as “sensational”.
He does not seem to have any real injury concerns either and could offer a different dimension in the final third to this side.
