Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles is now back in training and, according to the The Shields Gazette, is available to face the Hammers on Saturday.

Whilst Lascelles had missed the match against Aston Villa due to being unwell, he has now recovered, and will possibly feature at London Stadium for Saturday’s early kick off.

The Magpies, who are on a run, overcame  Aston Villa whilst he was away, with Dan Burn and Fabian Schar keeping another clean sheet, thus leaving Eddie Howe with a selection dilemma due to the good performance from the Brighton signing.

A Vital Win For West Ham Needed….

With Lascelles returning, it will undoubtedly lift spirits, especially given the loss of Kieran Trippier to a broken metatarsal. Newcastle are on a run, and the loss of Trippier could throw a roadblock in their progress, something that could benefit the Hammers. However, with Lascelles back, the damage is limited.

David Moyes is having a sticky patch at the moment, with West Ham misfiring, and the loss of Trippier would have made things just that little bit easier.

Even though West Ham are 12 places further up the Premier League table, the Irons have not been at their best, winning only two out of the last five, and needing injury time goals in both normal and extra time to overcome Kidderminster in the FA Cup.

4th Spot At Risk…

After Manchester United’s win against Brighton on Tuesday night, Moyes has seen the Hammers tumble out of the Champions League places.

A late goal from Craig Dawson spared the Hammers the ignominy of losing the lead at Leicester on Sunday after a poor second half that saw team flow just about completely disappear, and normally reliable pairings looking like novices.

Things are almost completely the opposite for their opponents with Newcastle having a vital unbeaten 5 match run in the league, and also a 3 game run winning streak.

Unless Moyes can find a way to turn the tables on the form of the team, 4th spot could well be at risk.
