West Ham managed to secure a 3-2 win against Liverpool in the Premier League to keep up their fine start to the season.

The Hammers were solid at the back and caused numerous problems from set-pieces.

This was an unreal result, and it shows that David Moyes’ side can compete with anyone on any given day.

Here are three things we learned.

West Ham are the kings of set-piece goals.

Another game and another set-piece goal for West Ham. This time an own goal from Alisson and a goal for Kurt Zouma, and there is no question that the Hammers are the set-piece kings.

They may play more vibrant and attacking football, but they often take advantage when they get a corner or a free-kick.

The ball in from Pablo Fornals was vicious in the first half, and though the goalkeeper should have done better, it was a very hard cross to deal with.

Then in the second half Aaron Cresswell provided a wonderful ball for Zouma.

The Irons have such fantastic players to hit in the box that it is no wonder they keep scoring and will continue to score from set-pieces.

Kurt Zouma is one of the signings of the season.

When West Ham picked up the 26-year-old from Chelsea in the summer, it looked like a signing that just made sense.

He has plenty of Premier League experience and has all of the physical attributes to be a force to be reckoned with.

However, he has surpassed expectations and was once again fantastic at the back.

The Hammers played a deep line and had to deal with plenty of crosses into the box, and he was there for all of them.

He looks like he could be at the heart of this Irons defence for a long time.

West Ham are genuine Champions League contenders.

This was an incredible win. In the second half, the Irons came out and attacked Liverpool and deservedly held on for the win at the end.

In fact, on the counter, they could and maybe should have scored more.

Certainly, this was a statement win and after 11 games, the Hammers are well and truly in the race for the Champions League and look capable of finishing fourth.

In other West Ham news, one Sky Sports pundit was furious with one moment in the first half against Liverpool.
