David Gold and David Sullivan seem to be meddling with transfers again as they’re keen for West Ham to sign Liverpool forward Divock Origi this month, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable Hammers insider reports that while the chairmen want to sign the 26-year-old Belgium international, David Moyes isn’t sold on the idea.
Ex has mooted the idea of Rob Newman changing Moyes’ mind but no offer has been made so far for Origi.
“Origi of Liverpool is available for a decent fee and will certainly tempt us,” said ExWHUemployee via the West Ham Way Patreon page on Saturday [8 January].
“The chairmen have always been keen on the player but Moyes has had reservations.
“Could Rob Newman persuade Moyes if he is a fan?
“This is worth keeping an eye on although no offer has been made as yet from us.”
Leave it to Moyes and Newman
West Ham have shown a massive improvement in the transfer market since Sullivan took a backseat and stopped having a say in who should be signed.
Moyes’ additions at the London Stadium have all been fantastic with Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Kurt Zouma among those to have really impressed here.
And if Moyes isn’t sold on the idea of signing Origi then he should be pressured to land the Belgium international.
Origi has had quite the career.
While he’s never really been a regular starter for Liverpool, he’s essentially a club legend at Anfield because of his impact from the bench and his ability to rise to the big occasions and score late goals.
After his late winner against Wolves last month, Jurgen Klopp dubbed Origi a “legend” and told Liverpool’s official website that the ex-Lille man is an “incredible finisher”.
He’s got five goals in 10 appearances this season for the Reds with one of them goals coming against us in November.
Origi would be quite an exciting addition but we trust Moyes and we don’t want the Belgian if he doesn’t.
And we really don’t want Gold and Sullivan meddling again.
In other West Ham news, an “extraordinary” offer could see the Irons bag this centre-back in January.
