Robbie Savage has reacted after Jarrod Bowen saw his goal disallowed during West Ham win over Watford today.

The Hammers ran out 4-1 winners at Vicarage Road on Tuesday (28 December), with the attacker assisting twice, but he should have gotten on the score sheet after a man-of-the-match performance.

Bowen, 25, found the net with an acrobatic finish to put West Ham 3-1 up, but VAR intervened, insisting a Watford player was fouled by Tomas Soucek in the build-up, and Savage could not believe it, reacting on BBC Radio 5 Live.

The ex-Wales midfielder said: “To rule that out for that tiny touch?

In real-time, it appeared that nothing had happened, but there could be an argument for a case when the incident is played back in slow motion.

Martin Atkinson pored over a possible foul, and he eventually got one, picking up an inadvertent stud on the back of a Hornet player’s foot from Soucek at the start of the attack leading to the goal.

It would not have mattered on another day, and while the hosts thought they had been handed a lifeline, West Ham still managed to score twice and wrap up a sweet victory.

Bowen might have been denied a goal that would have stood on another day, but nobody can take away the splendid performance he had today away from him.

The Hammers ace has assisted seven goals and scored thrice in 19 Premier League games so far in 2021-22, and should he continue impressing, it will be hard for Gareth Southgate to keep ignoring him.

Bowen deserves to be playing for England, and his solid display against the Hornets proved exactly just that.

In other West Ham news, an amazing attacker is making personal arrangements for Hammers switch in January.
