The Irons have enjoyed a spectacular start to the 2021/22 campaign as they sit top of their Europa League group with maximum points, fourth in the Premier League table and through to the quarter-final of the League Cup after wins over Manchester United and Manchester City.
Indeed, popular right-back Vladimir Coufal, 28, has seen himself on the fringes of the first team in recent weeks amid recent injury issues.
The Czech star has been restricted to just two substitute outings since the resumption of club football following the October international break with 21-year-old Ben Johnson in terrific form at right-back, and the West Ham academy graduate looks set to get the nod for the visit of Liverpool on Sunday.
“That’s what players have got to do, you can’t keep complaining if you get a chance and don’t take it.
“This boy has taken it and Coufal will understand that and when he gets back in he will be fired up, that’s what competition does to you.”
